Last week I attended the Arts Council of Monterey County Grantee Reception. I was awarded an Established Artist Grant — one of only two at this level given across the entire county.
I brought my girls with me.
Anne, my wife, has walked beside me through every chapter of this journey. Not always visibly. Not always loudly. But always there — understanding when I needed time, supporting when I needed someone to believe in this as much as I did. She was there.
Nicolette was there too. Becca’s daughter. My granddaughter. She stood with us at that reception, and I thought — she is part of this story whether she fully understands it yet or not. Someday she will.
When they called my name, I felt the full weight of every step it took to get there. The epiphany. The years of work. The musicians. The studios. The hospitals still ahead of us.
One hundred percent of this award goes directly toward our founding studio recording sessions — every dollar, straight into the work. And that work is well underway.
